Darn, I *really* overslept today. As in I wake up and it's almost dark outside! ===:o What's wrong with this picture? I must be tired fighting this bug that doesn't want to die. And I wanted to do some Christmas shopping too.

Oh well, at least it was nice to relax tonight with some friends. Alex and Winnie invited me over to her parents' for hot pot. Hot, healthy, and tasty food? Sure, it'd be a crime to pass on that. And a glass to wine or two to help mellow the night out. I must be sounding REALLY boring ... forgive me, it's the germs speaking ...

I actually felt well enough to do a service call today. Thought it would go like it usually does in support ... everything will look right and then something will go wrong and I'll do an all-nighter. Well, I almost got away with this one. Everything pretty much did go the way it was supposed to. I was gonna leave and then thought, "Heck, I don't want to come all the way back out here on Monday to finish this ... let's do the rest of it ..." And, then, Mr. Murphy, ever the vigilant fellow that he is, chooses to strike. And I stay an extra 3 hours ... *SIGH* But, at least, I won't have to go back on Monday!

But, hey, I didn't just sit there and watch the cursor blink. Yvonne, sweet as she is, called me today and told me to get my butt in gear and finish my resume. I've been sweating the details around for the last two weeks but talking to her motivated me to sit down and crank out some serious text. Thank you, Yvonne, for being so ... motherly. I know you know I appreciate all that you do for me! We'll see if everyone finds me living in NorCal sometime soon ...

This one's going in early tonight. I really need to get some rest. Sick as a dog (I keep typing god in there ... must be the drugs causing the dyslexia ... or the voices!). At least I got work done from home today. Thank God there's pcAnywhere ... so, if any of you see me up on AIM or ICQ tonight, somebody smack me ....!

I thought I was gonna hit the sack by 2am last night ... well ... something came up ...

I was talking to one of my friends last night over ICQ who was quite ... under the influence. I was quite surprised that s/he (names are being withheld to protect the innocent, er, guilty) was able to type full sentences given their current condition. And was probably gonna have a real nasty hangover in the morning too.

So, to help minimize this painful affliction, I suggested a theory offered by Art in years past who actually *RESEARCHED* why hangovers happen. Talked with doctors, pharmacists, and the like about the physiological makeup of a hangover. The simplified version is that it's an electrolyte imbalance paired with dehydration. So, the simple solution to this problem that afflicts so many the morning after is ... GATORADE! ===:o

Now, I've never tested this theory out before. For that matter, I've never had the need to test the theory ...! Let's just leave it at "it just got too expensive trying to find out when you crossed that threshold ...". So, hey, what better time to test it out here than with my friend who's probably somewhere between here and the moon at this point. The problem was that s/he couldn't walk, much less drive to the local market to get the Gatorade. Guess I have to go get it ...

Well, leaving out interesting side notes and incidents, it seems that this theory *WORKS*! The friend in question claims that "it would have been worse ..." otherwise. So, my friend Art, it seems that we now have some evidence from the field that this theory of yours seems to hold water (pun intended)!

Now, boys and girls, let's not go get smashed ...

Other than that funny episode last night, today I'd rather throw back like a small fish. All night work. I'm feeling sick. What a combination.

Another month now come and gone ... wow ...

I finally got all the stuff installed onto my new notebook PC (IBM ThinkPad 770X - boy, is it sweet!) and took it into the field today and found out the network card won't work, despite all the diagnostics saying it's fine. AAARRRGGGGHHH! Fortunately, I had my other one from the old notebook in the car otherwise today would have been a waste.

I think that my long nights are finally catching up to me as now I find that waking up at 10am is getting as hard as 8am! My sleep schedule is totally shot. AAARRRGGGHHH! As if not being a morning person wasn't bad enough ... So, on that note, good night! I'm gonna turn in before 2am this time ...

I guess I'm finally feeling the international nature of the Internet. Today, I got an ICQ from the land down under in Australia! Turns out that Alan is a 15-year old who wants to grow up to be a MCSE! ===:o Picked my brains about the whole network thang and asked lots of smart questions about the industry. Already wants to learn the differences between NetWare and NT. Wants to set up a LAN with his neighbor. Dang, I think kids like him will be running the Net before I'm 40!

Alan, go for it! I figure you got what it takes to make it out there in this crazy industry ...

I think I like this kid already ...
